Vom Backsteenhuus ist das Zentrum der Altstadt bequem in 5 Minuten fussläufig erreichbar. Auf den ersten Metern wird bereits das älteste Steinhaus in Leer, passiert. Es geht weiter entweder in die belebte Fußgängerzone oder Richtung des historischen Rathauses im Altstadtkern. Beide Wege führen zur maritimen Hafenpromenade mit dem Ankerplatz des Dampfschiffes „Prinz Heinrich“ und weiterer Traditionsschiffe. Die beeindruckende Leeraner Kulturdenkmale laden ein, unzählige weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten zu entdecken. Zahlreiche Cafés und Restaurants bieten ein vielfältiges Angebot für jeden Geschmack.
